Dr. Neil Pyatt, PhD

Dr. Neil Pyatt, PhD is the managing director of LA PARED arte contemporáneo, an independent project that operates an exhibition and residency spaces in Mexico city and a gallery in Pereira, Colombia, that promotes cultural exchange between the two countries. As a writer and researcher, he has been investigating contemporary culture since beginning the classic journalism route at the college newspaper during his undergraduate degree and then on to a master’s in social anthropology at Cambridge. Moving to Mexico in 1996 focused his work on regional contemporary art and its practical impact on politics and people’s lives. A period as a journalist and advertising creative in Oaxaca led to doctoral research through Loughborough University School of the Arts in the UK, which is now available in commercial form as Contemporary Art and Community Altruism in Oaxaca: Hybrid Agency (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2018).
